Limerick-based Avvio to create 30 new high value jobs with support from Enterprise Ireland

Tuesday, 21 October 2008 - Tánaiste Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Mary Coughlan, T.D. today, Tuesday 21 September 2008 announced that Limerick-based company Avvio are to invest significantly in employment creating 30 new high skilled roles in the company over the next two years. As part of their strategy to increase international sales, Avvio will also invest over €1.6m in R&D and innovation. Avvio, based at the National Technological Park in Limerick, is a leading provider of reservations software and online marketing for the hospitality industry, and is on track to quadruple its revenue by 2010, to over €6million. This investment in employment and international growth, supported by Enterprise Ireland, will bring the total employed at the company to 70.

Making the announcement the Tánaiste said:

“With support from Enterprise Ireland, Avvio are embarking on an aggressive international growth strategy and are aiming to nearly double their current workforce over the next two years. This investment, with support from Enterprise Ireland is indicative of the company’s confidence in its ability to compete and win business internationally. Not only is this announcement excellent news for the company, it will also have strong positive spin-off benefits for the Mid-West regional economy”.

Commenting on the announcement Jerry Moloney, Regional Director for the Mid-West Region at Enterprise Ireland said:

“Enterprise Ireland currently supports over 200 companies in the Mid West region who employ over 15,400 people full time. Avvio is an excellent example of the type of scalable export-oriented company that Enterprise Ireland is keen to support. Avvio have produced a suite of unique and highly innovative online business development solutions for the hotel and hospitality industry. Their business model is very strong and this investment means that Avvio are excellently positioned to take advantage of the immense international market opportunities available”.

“Through our network of 32 international offices, Enterprise Ireland will support Avvio to access new markets and meet with prospective buyers and business partners. I am very confident of the potential for Limerick based Avvio to become a world leading brand”.

Commenting on his company’s announcement Brian Reeves, CEO Avvio said;
