We’re pleased to introduce you to two of Avvio’s newest recruits – Catherine Penny and Eilís Morrissey. Both recently graduated from the Limerick Institute of Technology, having studied a Higher Diploma in Creative Multimedia Programming.
Having heard from colleagues that Avvio was supportive of interns and cultivated a great learning environment, they joined us for a three-month internship in the summer. Both Catherine and Eilís demonstrated an impressive work ethic and commitment to the Avvio team. We were thrilled that both applied and were successful for full-time roles when their internships ended!
Now that they’ve had time to settle into their new roles, we spent time getting a better insight into their new careers at Avvio.
Catherine (left) works as a Digital Marketing Executive where she works on a variety of tasks; SEO, PPC ad campaigns, ad design and creating animated ads.
Catherine tells us: During my internship, I was given the opportunity to work on a variety of tasks; from working with code, to design, testing and building websites, search engine optimisation and creating animated HTML 5 ads. My manager, team leads and fellow team members were incredibly helpful and willingly gave their time, tips, feedback and guidance. People are really invested in helping you learn, and share what they know with great patience and encouragement. This has given me an invaluable confidence! I love the family atmosphere, sense of community and of course all the cake!
Eilís (right) works with the Software Support team as Avvio’s Customisation Specialist, where she customises the booking engine for each customer, as well as pre- and post-stay emails and vouchers.
Eilís tells us: From working with code to helping create websites, marketing ads and working on SEO, I found the internship to be a great transition from the classroom. There is a real learning environment here at Avvio, and while we received lots of training, I also had a good level of autonomy – I was able to take responsibility with the tasks I was assigned, which was great! Everyone was eager to help, and share their knowledge meaning I was never afraid to ask questions. Avvio, for me, has ticked all the boxes: a really welcoming environment, great people and cake on a Friday!
